Week 16 NFL Picks: Houston Texans and More Teams That Will Get Back on Track
Several elite teams suffered losses in Week 15, including the previously undefeated Green Bay Packers. While one loss won't crush their dreams by any stretch, it's important for them and the other teams listed below to bounce back right away to avoid falling into a slump before the playoffs begin.
Houston watched its seven-game winning streak end at the hands of Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers. The Texans have survived the loss of Matt Schaub quite well so far, but you have to wonder if it's starting to catch up with them. Especially as teams begin to key in on Arian Foster.
Luckily for them, they play the Indianapolis Colts on Thursday night. The Colts finally picked up their first win of the season last week but still don't have nearly enough firepower to keep up with the Texans. Even without Andre Johnson the Texans should emerge victorious.
Prediction: Texans 27, Colts 14
Green Bay Packers
Ever since last weekend's surprising loss to the Kansas City Chiefs there has been a lot of talk about a possible blueprint for slowing down the Packers offense. It's a good thought, but in reality one loss doesn't provide the league with some type of method to beat Green Bay.
Aaron Rodgers has too many weapons to be slowed down on a consistent basis, regardless of what other teams attempt to do on defense. The Chicago Bears have been decimated by injuries, which turns this previously marquee Christmas Day game into one where the Packers will roll.
Prediction: Packers 31, Bears 21
If there's a knock against the Ravens it's that they play down to their competition. It's important to note that all of their losses, while not against elite competition (although the Chargers are playing better), did come on the road. Baltimore is 7-0 at home, which makes getting that second seed vital.
That unblemished home record will face its final regular season test against the Cleveland Browns on Saturday. The Ravens won the prior meeting by 14 in Cleveland and nothing has changed to make anybody believe the Browns will put up a bigger fight this time around.
Prediction: Ravens 24, Browns 7
