NFL Week 16 Picks: Denver Broncos and More Favorites That Will Cover with Ease
Week 16 is sure to be an exciting time for the few teams that secure playoff berths and heartbreaking for other squads that will watch their hopes fall short. Varying postseason motivations are key while attempting to pick winners at this point in the year, especially against the spread.
Here are three teams that should have no trouble covering. All lines courtesy of SBGGlobal.com.
Denver Broncos (-1.5)
The Broncos didn't have enough firepower to keep up with the New England Patriots after a strong start that seen them lead 16-7. Those first 17 minutes illustrated that Denver's rise isn't a complete fluke, but the final 43 minutes proved there's a lot of work left to do.
Things get a whole lot easier on Saturday as they travel east to face off with the Buffalo Bills. The Bills have been in free fall since early November and appear to be going through the motions. Look for Tim Tebow and Co. to take full advantage while inching ever so close to a berth.
Prediction: Broncos by 10
Houston Texans (-5.5)
This line seems low, which usually means you should go against prevailing wisdom. That's not the case here, however, because the Texans are still light years better than the Peyton Manning-less Indianapolis Colts, even with all the injuries they are dealing with right now.
Houston beat Indianapolis by 27 in Week 1, when there was still a glimmer of hope for the Colts. Now that they have their first win, there isn't much left for the Colts to play for. Look for the Texans to build a lead during the first half and then put it in cruise control under the final whistle.
Prediction: Texans by 13
New England Patriots (-9.5)
The Patriots are closing in on the top overall seed in the AFC, which will make the road a little bit easier. That means Bill Belichick will have his players in all-out attack mode for all four quarters vs. the Miami Dolphins, who have been a pesky opponent for New England in the past.
That wasn't really the case in the teams' first meeting, though, as the Patriots won by 14. With the Patriots looking to assert their home dominance and the Dolphins looking forward to next season by getting a better look at some young players, the result shouldn't be in much doubt after the first quarter.
Prediction: Patriots by 20
