Kings-Clippers: Kevin Martin Returns, Sacramento Wins 92-90
Tonight the Sacramento Kings (7-24) hosted the Los Angeles Clippers (8-21).
The Clippers came in without leading scorer Zack Randolph. They were also without Center Chris Kaman, Mike Taylor, and the suspended Ricky Davis.
The Kings came in off of a 45-point loss to the Celtics on Sunday night.
For the Kings, the story was the return of leading scorer Kevin Martin. The team had been 4-18 in his absence.
Martin came in halfway through the first quarter and quickly scored seven points in two minutes.
The Kings were in control and led 27-12 at the end of the first quarter.
The Kings would squander a 17-point lead, and trailed by three in the fourth quarter.
Down the stretch the Kings made just enough plays and pulled out the 92-90 win, stopping Baron Davis on the final play.
The Kings were led by Kevin Martin’s 20 points. Brad Miller and Jason Thompson added double-doubles.
Clippers rookie Eric Gordon led the team with 24 points, showing off his sweet jumper on many occasions. Marcus Camby added 15 points and 24 rebounds.
The Kings will go into the New Year at 8-24, looking to keep improving. They play at Detroit on Friday.
