Air Force-Houston: Mitch Picks the Armed Forces Bowl (Dec. 31)

The Bell Helicopters Armed Forces Bowl  Carter Stadium  Fort Worth, TX

Air Force (8-4) vs. Houston (7-5)

Wednesday, Dec. 31, 2008     12 EST    The Line: Houston -3 1/2

Overview:

While both of these teams have prolific offenses, they get it done differently. Houston is considered more of a passing team while Air Force gets it done on the ground.

This game is the second rematch of bowl season of a game that happened earlier in the season. In this case, it was an Air Force 31-28 victory in a game played at Houston.

Air Force runs the triple-option offense which means they are lacking in their passing game but more than make up for it the run game.

All of the Falcons losses this year came to bowl teams, and oddly enough, three of their four losses were at home.

Houston started the season 1-3 but rallied, losing only two more times all year. While Houston managed to win, they were involved in several close games to teams who weren't very good.

One of Houston's later losses was at Marshall, and they beat SMU by only four points and had to rally late to beat UTEP and their young and talented QB Trevor Vittatoe.
