NFL, Who is the Most Valuable Person to Their Team?

Ed Reed in my mind is the Defensive Player of the Year. His amazing ability to snag interceptions and run them back for touchdowns reminds me of Deion Sanders. Just like Prime Time, teams fear Ed Reed and when they throw to him odds are it'll go back for 6 points.

Belichick might just earn his second consecutive AP Coach of the Year Award. Being raised to never cheat and being a diehard Colts fan, I despise the man. Belichick persevered after enduring multiple running back injuries, a banged up secondary and the absence of Tom Brady. Not to mention the year before he had the added stress of Spygate and Super Bowl 42(greatest football upset ever). Belichick lead his team with a quarterback who hasn't started a game since high school to a very respectable 11-5 record and it's a shame they didn't make the playoffs.

It pretty much says it all when you pass for 5000 yards in a season with banged up overrated wide receivers.(Jeremy Shockey) Only 1 person in NFL history has passed for 5000 yard and that's Dan Marino in 1984. Many people consider Marino's 84 campaign to be superior of that to Peyton Manning's 2004 season(4500 yards) and Tom Brady's 2007 season(4800 yds). A very impressive Milestone but Brady and Marino lead their team to the super bowl and Manning went 12-4. Brees has failed to make the playoffs and if it weren't for him passing for almost 600 yards in 2 meaningless games at the end he wouldn't be in the record books. Still what Brees did was impressive.

After the Titans went 9-7, they suddenly exploded onto the season with a season for the record books(Titans record books) They are now 13-3 and have beaten teams such as Pittsburgh and Indy.(1-1 this season against Indy) The real reason Fisher might deserve this award would be the way he dealt with the Vince Young situation. The most successful coach in Titans/Oilers history has never won a super bowl, but this year his team isn't only a Super Bowl Contender... It's a Super Bowl Favorite.

Great speed, quickness, and the surprising ability to lower a shoulder. Adrain Peterson is the nfl's most gifted running back . He leads the league with over 1700 rushing yards and took his team from 6-10 to 8-8 to 10-6 and into the playoffs, the future of him and the entire team is looking only brighter. So doesn't this make a case for him to be #1 or at least the best running back. Well, he's the league's top fumbler, he only has 10 mediocre rushing tds, and his 4.8 isn't dazzling compared to last year's 5.6 ypc. Still, he's breakaway speed a big play ability lands him at #3 maybe #10 all time in the future...

After the engineering the greatest upset in super bowl history, Tom Coughlin began his plans the add another Lombardi trophy to NY and another ring. Trusting his faith in the New Eli Manning and a dominating element based rushing attack, Coughling began to wage his war against the NFC East and the NFL. Injuries, Retirements, and other incidents have come along. But Coughlin has dealt with just about every situation perfectly and certainly deserves to be in the conversation of coach of the year.

Matt Ryan has had a pretty good season too... for a rookie. Sorry Ryan it's rookie of the year for you but at least your teamate is a MVP canidate. Turner is 2nd in rushing touchdowns and in total rushing yards and a pro bowler in just his first year as a starter.(1699 rushing yards, 17 rushing tds) While LT just had his worst year his backup had a pro bowl season.

He may not look like it or seem like it, but Sparano's an offensive lineman coach with no experience as a play caller or a coordinator. So how has he done such a great job with the Dolphins. From 1-15 to 11-5, Sparano has tied Jim Mora's turnaround record. So why isn't he #1??? Certainly Bill Parcells has overshadowed Tony's achievements.Since we're talking Dolphins let's mention Chad Pennington who by the way barley missed this list. It was like so close, but you really shouldn't expect somebody who didn't make the pro bowl win MVP...

The Best and Most Valuable player of the last Decade. With the decade coming to a near close, it's only fitting that Peyton Manning should win his third MVP award. Coming off of offseason surgery, Manning played worse than he ever has in his career. Seven games into the season, Peyton Manning begins a winning streak for the ages and is now playing as good as he ever has. In his past 9 games he's not only undefeated, he's passer rating in 109.7(leads NFL), his completion % is 72(leads NFL), and he's thrown for(leads AFC)18 touchdowns to only 3 picks. This is his 9th consecutive 4000 yard passing season and if you can think of anyone who deserves this award more I'd like to meet him.

He may look like and remind me of Jimmy Johnson, but Mike Smith has nobody shaking their heads after his first season. I'm sure we all know about the Michael Vick Fiasco, and Bobby Petrino in just his first year made it into the Professional Football hall of... shame. In the first round, Atlanta picked a rookie quarterback traded for LT's backup and told Mike Smith to get to work. Mike Smith did in another historical turnaround. Many were predicting for Atlanta to be the NFL's worst team in 2008 but they really are one of the best. In just Mike Smith's first year. Maybe just like Jimmy Johnson, Smith will take his very young team and turn his talent into multiple championships and a trip to Canton. Just maybe...
