Any sentence beginning with "Tim Tebow is like" is automatically false. Tebow is one of a kind, which makes it no surprise that George Karl failed miserably to give him an NBA counterpart.
It's all Tebow all the time right now. The craze has infiltrated other sports, and when asked who the Tim Tebow of the NBA is, Karl produced this answer, according to the Denver Post (via SLAM),
With the will to win, Manu Ginobili is the type of guy, he has this exuberance of – we’re going to win the (darn) game with effort, passion and commitment. He’s the first guy that came to mind.
A guy who wins it on his heart more than his skills – Ben Wallace. He was an undersized, defensive player who can’t score, but won a championship.
While both of these players possess some of the qualities and intangibles that Tebow has, No. 15 is taking it to a completely different level.
Neither Ginobili nor Wallace has been as widely criticized. Tebow is one of the most polarizing figures in sports, and to see him blow everyone away by excelling in the manner that he is has not and will not be duplicated—in football or anywhere else.
Is Tim Tebow in a class of his own?
Tebow truly is one of a kind. There are a lot of guys who possess the same passion, faith and "it" factor that Tebow does, but he takes all three to the extreme. The immense will power he has shown has allowed him to make his critics look foolish, as he's doing something many believed was impossible.
Tebow isn't just willing his team to victory, he's changing the game. Every week, he makes the nation tune into Broncos games and leaves them not wanting to leave their seats.
While cross-sport comparisons can be fun and, at times, spot on, there is no athlete on earth who is like Tebow.
