Michigan Previews, Predictions, Recruiting, and News and Notes

Big House BobDec 29, 2008

* Jeremy Gallon, Army All-American, doesn't have any doubts regarding his commitment to Michigan. "I'm not going on visits to anywhere else," Gallon said. "I actually made that decision before my senior year. They came to me, and they were talking to me about their football team and their education system." Gallon will do his official visit to Ann Arbor in two weeks.

* Barkevious Mingo, the 10th-ranked LB in the country, will make his first official visit to Ann Arbor in two weeks. With that said, Michigan still has some work to do to get Barkevious on campus this fall, who lists his top three as USC, Alabama, and LSU. Barkevious is 6'5", 209 pounds and would fill a need for the Wolverines with the losses of two four-star LB prospects from the '08 class due to grades and homesickness.

* In Scott Shafer's separation agreement, he agreed "that I will not issue any statements to the media or in a public or similar setting which demean or disparage the University of Michigan, the football program, or any of their employees, in any way." This is not a big deal and regular contract language. Way to blow it out of proportion Detroit Free Press!

* Gus Malzahn, Tulsa's offensive coordinator, is leaving Tulsa to lead the offense at Auburn. Shavodrick Beaver, Tulsa's top recruit who de-committed from Michigan just days after confirming he was enrolling at Michigan in January, had no comment on someone committing to him then leaving just days after.

* The Big Ten is 0-1 in bowls so far, with FSU making Wisconsin look like the team that played Michigan, Ohio State, and Penn State, all back-to-back. Now, the Big Ten has another opportunity (to look bad) with Northwestern taking on a solid Missouri team tonight.

Expect Mizzou to light up the scoreboard. Mizzou 51, NW 21

If you need something to watch on TV tonight, tune in to the Big Ten Network and see the No. 24-ranked Michigan Wolverines in their last non-conference matchup against North Carolina Central at 7:00 pm. Thank goodness for college basketball!
