Owen Daniels vs. Panthers -
What seemed like a death blow to Owen Daniels' fantasy stock has turned into the possible beginnings of a resurge with rookie quarterback T.J. Yates under center.
Daniels tied Kevin Walter for targets with ten against the Bengals, as he consistently exploited Cincinnati over the middle for most of the game, and made a few nice receptions on the team's final drive to victory.
Yates received praise last week from scouts and annalists after his win against the Falcons, and as the game continued to play out this week, Yates’s body language suggested that the NFL and the drive to win the game wasn’t too big for him to handle.
With Yates playing well, look to Daniels as a low end starter after his seven reception, 100-yard performance.
Jake Ballard vs. Redskins –
Say what you want about Jake Ballard, but he put together a solid performance against the Cowboys by game's end.
Eli Manning targeted Ballard for key plays on the last two drives as he hit Ballard for a touchdown on a one-on-one matchup against Sean Lee, made a crossing route dump-off that turned into a 21-yard play and completed reception down to the one-yard line, setting up the go-ahead score.
This week, Ballard will face a Redskins defense that was embarrassed by Rob Gronkowski when he shredded through poor tackles and found his way to the end-zone twice.
No, fantasy owners shouldn’t expect that kind of a performance this week, but Ballard is worthy of getting in your lineup over talented, yet disappointing, tight ends like Jermichael Finley and Vernon Davis.
