It's that time of year once again. The most important, televised wrestling-related awards show is back. The Slammy Awards return tonight during a three-hour episode of RAW starting at 8:00 p.m.
An awards show that once gave us Vince McMahon singing and dancing has been rather unpredictable in years past. As silly as the show gets, some awards have helped show where the future of the company is. Shawn Michaels has won multiple Slammys over the years, while a young guy named Rocky Maivia won Breakout Star of the year in the late 1990s.
Don't forget that there is still a three-hour RAW to be had tonight. The WWE Championship match at TLC is set as CM Punk defends in a triple-threat TLC match against Alberto Del RIo and The Miz. All three men have experience in TLC matches and all three men have won Money in the Bank ladder matches, so tonight can be a night for someone to pull ahead with the momentum with TLC just six days away.
Also occurring in six nights is a United States Championship match between champion Dolph Ziggler and fan favorite Zack Ryder. Ryder finally earned the shot last week after pinning the World Heavyweight Champion Mark Henry.
John Cena had a lot to do with that happening, leading to a match between Cena and Henry, two of the Superstar of the Year finalists, tonight. Cena sacrificed his chance at the WWE Championship for TLC to give Ryder the opportunity, but Ryder cost Ziggler his chance by distracting him in his match. It will certainly be interesting to see how everything unravels during what is likely the last three-hour RAW of 2011.
