Everyone knows who Maria Sharapova is. They also have heard of Danica Patrick, Natalie Gulbis, Gina Carano, Ana Ivanovic and Alex Morgan. Those women play sports we can watch on ESPN.

But not all sports are played on ESPN. Some sports, those we have only heard about or seen during an Olympic year, feature some of the hottest women in the world. The selection of women from those less than known sports is longer than the line at the Apple store.

25. Nicole Joraanstad: Curling

If I were to tell you that there is a sport where you are suppose to slide huge pieces of stone across an ice rink, while two other teammates use brooms to sweep the ice in front of the stone so they can steer where it goes. Would you believe me?

Curling is an Olympic sport and that is exactly what it is, rocks on ice. At least they have some of the hottest women in sports like Nicole Joraanstad. She might not sound like it but she is as American as homemade pie.

24. Jeanette Lee: Billiards

Jeanette Lee looks as sweet and innocent as a baby doll you would give a child. But that is not the real Jeanette. She has a darker side.

She has one of the greatest nicknames in all of sports, the Black Widow. She was named that by a club owner because she is so quiet but extremely deadly with a pool stick. She even had a chopper designed after her name.

After doing plenty of research for this particular article, I came across a sport that I have never heard about until now, Equestrian Vaulting. That requires a second take, Equestrian Vaulting.

Cate Thomas is hot, this is a fact. But what you can not see is how incredibly awesome she is when vaulting around on a horse. That sport is more insane than eating three scorpions at the same time. It is plain nuts.

20. Magdalena Neuner: Biathlon

We move on from Equestrian Vaulting to Biathlons. A Biathlon combines cross-country skiing with rifle shooting.

I know what you are thinking, this is a perfect combination. How was this sport invented? Someone had to be drinking that day.

19. Shannon O'Keefe: Bowling

Now it is time to discuss bowling and the hot women that toss a ball across a flat surface to knock over ten pins.

Shannon O'Keefe, on the right, is a happy representative of the hot female nation that hits the bowling alleys on a weekly basis. You should try it out one night, you might find some very nice talent.

Another sport that needs to be explained to me is the Skeleton. This sport requires the athletes to put on super tights, thank you for that one, and go a million miles an hour down a frozen track on a fast sled with no brakes. Headfirst.

If Melissa Hollingsworth wants to do it, so be it. As long as she does not mess up that pretty face of hers.

Xiaoting Pan is as famous as Lebron James in her home country of China. She has become a queen of the billiards world in China, much like King James has become for the NBA.

The only difference? She wins championships.

16. Angelina Paglia: Billiards

Another beautiful pool player in our midst is Angelina Paglia of Michigan. She is a professional pool player and 402 time champion. She wins, wins, wins.

She also plays the violin. I guess she does it to distract her opp...oh, she doesn't play during matches. Never mind then.

15. Carmen Schaefer: Curling

As I said earlier, Curling is a sport that defies creativity. It is hard to picture a game that involves brooms,rocks, and an ice rink as an Olympic sport. Carmen Schaefer is a Swiss curler. 

Look, I get it. The sport is boring to watch unless beautiful women in tight pants are doing the curling. So please, Carmen, invite some of your Swiss friends to play. We could use some more.

14. Ewa Laurance: Billiards

Ewa Laurance, better known as the Striking Viking, is a former World Champion pool player from Sweden who migrated over to the US when she was 17 years old.

She is married to an actor from L.A. Law and Dawson's Creek. Can you name him? I looked it up and even I can not remember who he is.

Someone get me a bowling ball and some shoes, I am off to the bowling alley tonight.

If beautiful women like Clara Guerrero exist in the bowling world, I wonder who else I can spot at the lanes.

This women needs no introduction. Jennifer Barretta is one of the sexiest women in the US and I am not just referring to billiards. She is one of the hottest women alive. Period.

Anyone can be a long jumper. All you have to do is run real fast down a long narrow track and jump just before the white line into a sand pit. The point is to jump the farthest.

At first glance, you might not think Curling is a sexy sport. In fact, you probably have given up on reading about it by now.

Then comes Mari Motohashi and this amazing, albeit well-timed, photo. I am not sure when it was taken or even where. All I know is it was snapped at the right time.

8. Cheryl Bernard: Curling

I am in love. I have been for years with Cheryl Bernard. I do not know if it has anything to do with how talented she is or if it is simply because, at her age, she is hotter than bacon on a fryer.

The Canadian-born beauty belongs in every list involving female athletes from now until I say stop. She even deserves a shot at the title of hottest Canadian female athlete. Ever.

7. Margherita Granbassi: Fencing

Fencing is the sexiest sport no one has ever cared about. I repeat, this is a sexy sport.

Why? Because women like Margherita Granbassi swing their swords with the greatest of ease and we can not see who is behind the mask. All we get are the post game shots that leave us wanting more.

6. Ashley Force Hood: Racing

I can already hear the groaning about this choice. But racing is not a strange or random sport. It is one of the most popular sports in the world.

Not so fast, my friend. She races Top Fuel Funny Cars which are practically race motor engines with a windbreaker on to keep them from flying in the air.

Ok, so this was a fun sport to discuss. However, I had over 12 different puns ready to go before the censors flagged me down and said no go.

I think we might have just found a hidden gem behind all that Taekwondo gear.
