Fantasy Football Rankings: Rob Gronkowski and the Top 5 TE Plays
Tight end Rob Gronkowski of the New England Patriots tied an NFL record for touchdowns in a season by a tight end with his 13th score of the year last week, and the second-year pro leads off the top fantasy plays at his position in Week 14.
1.) Rob Gronkowski, New England Patriots (at WAS): The Redskins haven't been an especially favorable fantasy matchup for opposing tight ends this season, but given Gronk's penchant for finding the end zone that doesn't really matter.
2.) Jimmy Graham, New Orleans Saints (at TEN): Fantasy's second ranked tight end through 12 games leads all players at his position in catches and yards and has a favorable matchup with a Titans team allowing the sixth most fantasy points per game to opposing tight ends.
3.) Tony Gonzalez, Atlanta Falcons (at CAR): The 15th-year veteran has already surpassed his yardage and touchdown totals from 2010 and has a favorable fantasy matchup with a shaky Carolina Panthers defense this week.
4.) Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys (vs. NYG): Witten appears well on his way to his fifth straight top five fantasy finish and meets a New York Giants team Sunday Night that has allowed the fourth most fantasy points to opposing tight ends this year.
5.) Antonio Gates, San Diego Chargers (vs. BUF): The nagging foot injury that has plagued Gates dating back to last season doesn't appear to be hindering him too badly right now, and the ninth-year veteran should do well in a top 10 fantasy matchup against the Buffalo Bills Sunday.
