The Giants traded two of their World Series cornerstones tonight.

Andres Torres and Ramon Ramirez were traded for the New York Mets' Angel Pagan. The trade gives the Giants a brand new center fielder and leadoff hitter going into the 2012 season.

It also means an end to jean-shorts Thursday.

In theory, Pagan will bring much of what the Giants lacked last year when Torres slumped—prototypical lead off speed.

Pagan's stats from last year: .262/.322/.373 68R 56RBI 32SB

What cannot be replaced is the spirit Torres brought to the Giants Clubhouse and fans. Torres will be a fan favorite amongst the Giants faithful for years to come.

Pagan will have his work cut out for him if he expects to fill Torres' tight cut-off jeans. I suggest he start throwing cinder blocks up a hill now.
