This goal was mightily important because without Vela's wonder strike Real Sociedad would not have won the game, and the three points they earned in this match helped them climb out of the relegation zone in the league table.
Vela is currently on loan to Real Sociedad from Premier League club Arsenal, and the Gunners could sure use that kind of skill in their attack.
Vela is a tremendous player who has fabulous skill. What impressed me about this goal is the fact he set up the bicycle kick with his head, which is harder to do than using your feet.
He also had players around him, which adds a some difficulty to the kick. With teammates and opposing players in the area, your concentration has to be nearly perfect to pull this off, but as you can see Vela's focus was exceptional.
I also love that Vela even decided to attempt this kind of shot. In the final minutes of the game facing just a one goal deficit, a shot with a better chance to go in would have been preferred.
However, this is one of those moments where coaches are typically ready to criticize the player for his decision making, but when it ends up as a crucial goal, the coach says "good choice."
Expect Vela to continue to score goals like this in the future. The Mexican is a great goal scorer and Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger would be smart to bring him back to the Emirates next season to strengthen his attack.
