Last night, an undefeated welterweight fighter dominated in the undercard of the Cotto vs. Margarito pay-per-view.

This fighter could ultimately end up delaying the dream fight between Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Mike Jones.

Yes, that was a tad stupid, but so is the ongoing bickering between Pacquiao and Mayweather.

Before Pac-Man's most recent fight against Juan Marquez there were talks that Mayweather was trying to arrange a fight between the two for May 5 of next year.

Now, as has been the case for years, it appears that both ends are backing away and making excuses for the fight not to happen.

After last night's win by Mike "Machine Gun" Jones, the door opens for either Pacquiao or Mayweather to face a different welterweight talent.

It has been the routine for quite some time now.

The two sides talk about a fight. They complain about the other side. They fight other top-ranked fighters in the weight class instead.

Before last night, Mike Jones was already ranked in the top ten in the Welterweight division by ESPN.

Jones hasn't gained a lot of publicity and hasn't fought any big-name fighters yet, but he is a rising star in the weight class.

This win puts Jones at a 26-0 record and gets him a shot at the IBF Welterweight Title.

Obviously, a fight for the belt would probably come before a fight with Pac-Man or Money Mayweather, but his name is now out there as a possible contender.

I'm happy for Mike Jones.

I'm worried for the boxing world.
