Red, white, Cougars...fight.
What we have here is a hip-hop anthem celebrating the University of Houston Cougars. It's new and fresh, and very well could be outdated in the next few days.
Slim Thug, Paul Wall and others provide a rap song to end all Houston rap songs. Or at least those that represent Case Keenum with such ferocity.
The little engine that could is No. 6 in the BCS rankings, and it has a lot to do with their redshirt senior quarterback. So I understand the love, it's just that some of the lyrics may be aged by the end of the season.
If that that BCS don't know by now, we gonna show them something/ the Cougars came to play okay you can put that on Coach Sumlin/
It's nothing, got ground game, got air game, got defense. Not fair man and I swear man don't try to disrespect us/
Cause when you dis the Cougars man you dissing Houston, Texas
That would be a direct reference to Kevin Sumlin, the head coach of Houston. Only, he is the supposed leading candidate to take over the Texas A&M head coaching vacancy.
If that weren't enough, Houston plays their first ranked opponent of the entire season Saturday when they battle No. 24 Southern Miss.
The best thing I can say about this song is that I wouldn't turn it off immediately if it came on the radio. I guess that is a lot like the 2011 Cougars. They aren't horrible, and that is about as good a compliment as I can pay.
Savor this anthem now Houston, it may be ridiculously outdated shortly.
