Mike Richards is expected to miss at least seven days after taking a hit from Florida's Sean Bergenheim Wednesday Night.
The hit that came at the end of the second period will put Richards on short-term injured reserve for the time being. Bergenheim was assessed a two-minute minor; however, the penalty was not for the hit but for the ensuing scuffle.
It has already been stated by the NHL that Bergenheim will receive no supplemental discipline, and the hit was a "full body hit."
Richards has 20 points in 25 games for the Kings, and has seven goals in his last eight games.
Willie Mitchell was also injured in his first shift of the game Wednesday night.
It is uncertain at this time if the Kings will recall anyone from their minor league affiliate, the Manchester Monarchs. Dustin Penner is just a few days away from returning from a broken bone in his hand, and forwards Trevor Lewis and Brad Richardson have been healthy scratches for the last several games.
