On Friday, Bruce Arena’s Los Angeles Galaxy were back in business with a youth football clinic at Rizal Memorial Stadium. For many of the youngsters, this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to meet midfielder David Beckham, the focal point of the match between the Galaxy and the Philippines National Team (kickoff: 3:30 a.m. PT/6:30 a.m. ET, Fox Soccer Channel).

“I was nervous, I might make mistakes,” said Ricardo Ocampo, Jr. one of the kids at the event, to Cedelf P. Tupas of the Philippine Daily Inquirer. “I could not imagine that I will be on the same field with my idols.”

About 200 children took part in the clinic, with 1,000 others watching in person.

“This is just one of the reasons why football is such a beautiful game,” said Roy Moore of the Fairplay for All Foundation. “It shows how football can open up opportunities regardless of the background of the person.”
