The Carolina Panthers DT Gary Gibson was placed on injured reserve after suffering a broken left hand, in a loss against the New York Giants. Gibson was replacing DT Maake Kemoeatu, who was out with a sprained ankle. He was also replacing DT Damione Lewis, who left the game in the fourth quarter with a shoulder injury. The Defensive Tackle position happens to be the Panthers' most banged up position.

Gibson first saw action in the 2007 season game at Green Bay, and recorded only one tackle. This year, he has nine tackles, which adds up to ten for his 3-year career. The Panthers sign DT J'Vonne Parker, from Atlanta's practice squad to replace Gibson.
