The dividends of a huge 2011 campaign have begun to pay off for the Trojans already as Scout.com reported that Kenny Bigelow, a huge defensive lineman from Bear, Del. had given his verbal pledge to the Trojans following the 2012 high school season.
Bigelow, a 6'3", 280-pound interior lineman, is rated a 5-star prospect by Scout.com, and the young man already is a beast who already benches 375 lbs. to go along with a 500-pound squat.
For Bigelow, who was on hand to watch the Trojans demolish their crosstown rivals UCLA, the decision to commit to USC was an easy one.
According to the article, Bigelow was quoted as saying, “It was the coaching staff, the environment of California, the feeling around the whole stadium. There were (close to) 100,000 people there. Every time I looked around, there wasn’t a seat that was open. Everybody was up on their feet the whole game. I don’t think anybody sat down during the game."
For Lane Kiffin and defensive line coach, Ed Orgeron, the verbal from Bigelow represents a step toward developing depth at a position of need.
Saying he would focus on both the offensive and defensive line, Kiffin now has one of the jewels of the 2013 high school recruiting class.
In addition to the USC offer, Bigelow also had offers from programs such as Auburn, Clemson and Oregon among others.
