Milbourne, Neal Lead Maryland Terps Over American University

Landon Milbourne and Dave Neal scored 14 each in leading the Terps to a 67-51 win over American University on Monday night for their fourth consecutive victory.

Milbourne continued to have the hot hand.  He is averaging 19 points in the last three games, while scoring 57 points.  When asked after the game what has inspired his play of late Milbourne's response was, "I realized how fast time goes by and that you can't take anything for granted, so I just come out and play hard every game."  Milbourne added five rebounds and three steals. 

Neal sank three two pointers in the first half and also contributed five rebounds.  Greivis Vasquez finished with 13, along with five boards and five assists.  Cliff Tucker scored seven, while Eric Hayes and Braxton Dupree each scored five.  Milbourne, Neal, and Vasquez, the Tri Captains of the team, all finished 4-4 from the free throw line. 

Derrick Mercer and Garrison Carr led American with 12 and 11 points, respectively.  American University currently has a 5-6 record.

The Terps, who led 35-27 at the half, outscored their opponents 32-24 in the second half.  Maryland shot 16 for 18 from the free throw line and scored 23 points off turnovers.  Maryland is now 59-4 in non-conference play.

The Terps are now 8-2 and have received votes towards the top 25.  It was Gary Williams' 612 victory.
