Well, it's that time of year again: Another year to remember, another year to forget? In any case, it's been a year to remember.

The next few minutes will take you back from January and end in December. We will see UK success, Spanish delight, and other headlines which will cast your mind back.

Spurs Find Success at Wembley

He might have lasted only 12 months as Tottenham's coach, but Juande Ramos' best match had to be when his side won a trophy for the first time in nine years against their London rivals, Chelsea.

After Didier Drogba put Chelsea into the lead, Dimitar Berbatov forced extra time between the two sides. Jonathon Woodgate made sure that a trophy was going to White Hart Lane with the Carling Cup after scoring with his head towards the end of the match.

Wales Win Six Nations Glory

James Hook was the star of Six Nations as the penalty taker made sure that Wales took all the spoils in this tournament.

Wales won all their matches, and try scorer Shane Williams and captain Ryan Jones went to the best XV in the overall cup.

Manchester United on Top of the World

European and World Player of the Year Cristiano Ronaldo was speculated to join Real Madrid all summer. Nevertheless, with 42 goals during the 2007/08 season, he won countless awards for himself and for the team.

Manchester United won the Premiership and Champions League, finishing ahead of Chelsea on both occasions. December also saw the Red Devils win World Club Cup. Wayne Rooney scored the only goal against LDQ of Ecuador.

Spain Conquer Euro 2008

No home nations were in Euro 2008, but it was been one of the most-viewed tournaments in the UK throughout summer.

Spain were the rightful winners, going unbeaten all tournament. In the final, Fernando Torres's goal was enough for Spain to see off Germany.

UK Reigns Supreme at Beijing Olympics

It has been a fantastic year for the Olympians and the Paralympians in Beijing. Chris Hoy won BBC Sports Personality of the year 2008, and Rebecca Adlington (above left) and 13 year old Paralympian Simmonds both swum to victory as Team GB collected well over 100 medals in both tournaments. A perfect preparation for London 2012.

Credit Crunch Hits Football Teams

Througout the year, the world has been hit by the credit crunch. In football, clubs such as Luton Town, AFC Bournemouth, and Rotherham United have all been heavily affected by the crisis, with points taken off them to start League 2 season.

Luton had a worse deduction—30 points.

Formula One: Lewis Hamilton Enters Record Books

To top off UK's success this year, Lewis Hamilton became the youngest world champion in Formula 1 season. It was been a two horse race between himself and Filipe Massa, but the Englishman made sure that the trophy went to him on the last day.
