Ricky Hatton-Manny Pacquiao Almost Done?

EJ ClaudioCorrespondent IDecember 21, 2008

According to Mirror.co.uk, the fight between Manny Pacquiao and Ricky Hatton is almost a done deal. They have a target date of May 2, 2008 and the venue is either the MGM or The Thomas And Mack Center in Las Vegas. They will finalize the details before Christmas.

"Manny has been at the top of my radar since he beat Oscar De La Hoya.", Ricky Hatton stated. He also claimed, "Every boxer wants to prove himself against the very best and that is what I have done again and again."

Ricky Hatton is a courageous fighter. He has fought the former pound-for-pound champ, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and is now challenging the current pound-for-pound champ, Manny Pacquiao.

The match was almost in jeopardy when both camps couldn't agree on the venue as Hatton's camp insists that the fight should be in Wembley. But due to Pacquiao's enormous following in the city of sin, I guess they agreed to do it in Las Vegas where the money is bigger.

This is definitely great news for boxing fans. This one of the most anticipated match ups for next year. 2009 is starting to look like a great year for boxing. Now who said that boxing is dying?
