Earlier this week, R-Truth was suspended for 30 days following his first violation of the WWE's wellness policy. This violation couldn't have come at a worse time.
Before his suspension, Truth was riding out the biggest push of his career. He was teaming with The Miz as a member of Awesome Truth and had just finished competing in the biggest main event since WrestleMania.
However, he has now landed in the dog house.
Before the WWE "writes" him off TV, they had The Miz take him out at the end of Raw. This could mean that Truth will be returning as a face when his suspension is over. However, will he be a main eventer or find himself stuck in the midcard?
Remember when William Regal won King of the Ring in 2008? He was the Raw GM and was riding out the biggest push of his own career. Regal then violated the wellness policy and was suspended for 60 days. When he returned, Regal wasn't anywhere near the level he was prior to his suspension.
Once Regal ruined his own push, Vince McMahon gave up on him. What Truth has in his favor is that McMahon views him as a money maker. He will not let Truth fall to the lower/middle card again. Vince will push him as a face and will exploit the "little Jimmy" gimmick even more.
Truth will become a fan favourite, and—more importantly for McMahon—a kid favorite. Truth's heel run may be over, but he will return as a face and run out the remainder of his career on the good side of the fans.
