Denver Broncos: John Elway Is Wrong to Talk About Tebow's Future Right Now

A GM should only say positive things about his players - especially when they are winning.

The Denver Broncos have now improved to a 4-1 record with quarterback Tim Tebow playing under center. The defense is playing dominant football, while the college style offense keeps it close enough for Tebow to do his thing in the fourth quarter.

Denver GM John Elway made a statement this week about Tim Tebow not being the quarterback of the future in Denver.

He did not have to say that right now.

Everyone knows that Tebow is not an ideal NFL signal-caller. His release is as ugly as I have ever seen. The Broncos actually won a game in which he only completed two passes. Impossible.

Elway and the Broncos will have to look to upgrade the QB position eventually, for sure.

However, if the team is clicking with the guy right now, and the team is building confidence, why do anything to rock that boat?

He didn't have to lie, but he could have found a better way to put it while not taking any confidence or momentum away from Tebow.

He could have said: "We are playing good ball right now and hope to continue building on that. Of course we will evaluate and look to improve our roster at every position in the offseason."

Simple.

As of right now, if the horse is rolling good, ride it! No matter how ugly it may be.
