Jussi Jokinen Should be Picked up by Florida Panthers

The Panthers could use a player like Jokinen, Jussi that is. The young Finnish forward was recently released by the Tampa Bay Lightning.

The Florida Panthers' biggest problem this year has been scoring, and although Jokinen is not a true scorer, he is a young play-maker who has untapped talent.  He was acquired by Tampa in a blockbuster deal that sent Brad Richards and Johan Holmqvist to the Dallas Stars.

Last season, Jokinen had 14 goals and 14 assists in only 52 games. He shines most in the shoot-outs, as he has excellent deke moves and great vision up the ice. However, the young forward has struggled this year with Tampa, scoring only two goals.

The acquisition of Jokinen may help the Panthers finally put together four solid lines, as the top two lines seem to be coming together. I believe Jokinen would make an excellent line with Rostislav Olesz and Richard Zednik, as both Zednik and Jokinen are quick, solid forwards, and Olesz is a nice power forward.

Time will tell where Jokinen goes, as the young forward continues to wait for a team willing to take a gamble on him.
