The Aeropostale Holiday Festival begins today at 2 p.m. ET, as Virginia Tech looks to begin their 2007 title against the Columbia Lions. Their game will be followed by St. John's Red Storm taking on the Marist Red Foxes at 4:30 p.m. ET. The winners of each game will play on Dec. 21 for the title. All games will be played at Madison Square Garden.

Seth Greenberg, coach of the Hokies, will be looking for his team to win the two day tournament again. The Hokies have won 11 of 13 games at the Garden since Greenberg took over the program.

Speaking about the season so far, Greenberg told the Roth Report, "We’re not were we need to be. We’ll improve. We’ll get better, but there’s not one phase where we need to be, or where we can be. But we’ll get better.”

One of those players who needs to step up during this tournament is Jeff Allen. The sophomore forward has been very inconsistent with his play. He can have monster games like he did against Longwood (19 points, 21 rebounds), but then would sprinkle in a few games where he would be in foul trouble early and be a non-factor.

Playing well and winning the tournament for the second straight year can help the Hokies get on track and be confident heading into their ACC portion of their schedule.

This tournament is by no means featuring any premier teams, or give the winner of the tournament any boost in respect. So why did I write a preview on the tournament? Because I'm in NY, graduated from Virginia Tech, and am going to the Garden to see them play for the first time all year.
