Panthers' Pilares Races Into Record Books With 101-Yard Return

For a unit that has endured its share of criticism this season, the Panthers' special teams unit fared better in Detroit with the highlight being rookie Kealoha Pilares' 101-yard kickoff return for a touchdown in the second quarter. Pilares' return came immediately after the Lions had scored to cut the Carolina lead to 10-7. He fielded the ball a yard deep in the end zone, headed straight upfield, veered to the left behind his blocking and raced in front of the Panthers' sideline for the score.
