Manchester United Transfers: 10 Rumored Targets for Sir Alex Ferguson in January
As usual Manchester United will be linked with several players in the weeks leading up to the January transfer window.
However, after a summer spending spree where Sir Alex Ferguson brought in David de Gea, Phil Jones and Ashley Young, the odds are that he will not add to his squad in the new year.
Even so, United have already been strongly linked to a few players and Sir Alex may look to add some more youth to his squad, or perhaps another veteran to give his side a bit more experience.
Here is a look at 10 rumoured targets for Manchester United in the January transfer window.

Bolton Wanderers defender Gary Cahill has been linked with most of the top teams in the English Premier League.
But, Manchester United have also been mentioned and should not be ruled out of any potential transfer race.
25-year-old Cahill is a player with a lot of football in front of him, and he would make a nice defensive pairing in the future with Phil Jones once Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand have moved on.

If Gary Cahill proves too hard to pursue, then Manchester United may turn their attention to talented young American, Brek Shea.
Already a full United States international and Major League Soccer All-Star, the versatile FC Dallas defender, who can also play in the midfield, has been linked with a host of European clubs in recent times—including United.
At just 21 years old Shea is definitely one for the future, and if Sir Alex is able to lure him away at a reasonable price there is no doubt he would be worth the investment.

Everton’s Jack Rodwell is one of the best young midfielders in English football.
At just 20 years old, he has already made his full England debut and has a huge career ahead of him.
But, just where that future lies may change very soon.
Manchester United has been linked with the youngster, which would build on their recent trend of buying young English talent after the introduction of the home-grown players rule.

If Everton are unwilling to let go of Jack Rodwell, another midfield option for Manchester United is Ross Barkley.
The England youth international turns 18 next month, and has impressed in his short time in the Everton first team, leading him to be linked with the likes of United.
Although January will likely be a bit soon for any teams to make a move for Barkley, who is still largely unproven, he is obviously talented and highly thought of around the English Premier League already.

Dutch midfielder Wesley Sneijder has long been touted as a transfer target of Manchester United.
At 27, the Inter Milan playmaker is at the peak of his powers, and would be a perfect fit in the United midfield, after the retirement of Paul Scholes.
Sneijder’s big wage demands could prove a stumbling block, but it has been reported that he would be willing to take a pay cut for a crack at the English Premier League.

20-year-old Eden Hazard is one of Europe's most exciting prospects.
The midfielder, currently at the French club Lille, has been one of the most talked about transfer targets for several English Premier League clubs.
Liverpool and Arsenal have both been mentioned as possible destinations for the Belgian international, but Manchester United will likely have more pulling power if they are to pursue the young playmaker.

Another young midfielder linked with Manchester United is Danish international Christian Eriksen.
Eriksen has been a regular for Ajax for the last couple of years, and underlined his potential by being named Dutch Football Talent of the Year and Danish Football Player of the Year in 2011.
Big clubs all around Europe are starting to circle for the 19-year-old attacking midfielder.
19-year-old Borussia Dortmund product, Mario Gotze, is seen as the next big thing in German football, and has been linked with a move to Old Trafford by several sources.
The midfielder was very impressive in the Bundesliga last season, which led to him becoming a full German international at just 18.
It seems a matter of time before the likes of Manchester United will be inquiring about his services.
Lucas Rodrigues Moura da Silva
Lucas Rodrigues Moura da Silva, known as Lucas, is yet another teenager who is already a full international, and attracting attention from European scouts.
Lucas is still just 19, but has already been capped 10 times for Brazil, and Manchester United are reportedly following his progress at Brazilian club Sao Paulo.
If they are serious about bring him to England, they may think about launching a bid for him in the near future before his price sky rockets.

Manchester United will likely be in the market for another striker soon.
Michael Owen is well past his best and Dimitar Berbatov continues to be inconsistent.
28-year-old Klaas-Jan Huntelaar is a proven goal scorer who would add nicely to the rotation of United’s current strike force of Wayne Rooney, Javier Hernandez and Danny Welbeck.
The Dutch international would likely jump at the chance to move on from his German club Schalke 04, and take a step up in his career.
