Avery Johnson was working hard, doing what he lives to do — teaching basketball. Unfortunately for the Nets head coach — and assistant coach Tom Barrise and video coordinator Patrick Spurgin, who worked with him — the players he was instructing how to defend the pick-and-roll weren’t the Nets, but rather the middle school team at the Ronald Edmonds Learning Center, M.S. 113, in the Fort Greene-Clinton Hills section of Brooklyn.
