Toro Rosso Review: What a Year

Adam LewisContributor IDecember 19, 2008

Toro Rosso have had a great 2008 with the team getting it's first ever victory and outperforming parent team Red Bull let's look at their year in more detail.

Toro Rosso drivers in 2008 were Sebastian Vettel and Sebastain Bourdais, Vettel is the more talented of the two but Bourdais is not that bad. Bourdais scored the team's first points of the year at the first race of the year in Austailla getting two points for finishing seventh he was runing as high as forth but then his engine blew at least he got two points.

Vettel got his first points of the season in Monaco. After a summer of improvement Toro Rosso got their first ever win with Vettel having a flag to flag victory in italy. This win was a big thing for toro rosso as before they were bought by red bull they were know as Minardi and Minardi was a team that no one would say they would ever win a race.

Toro Rosso outperformed sister team Red Bull in the constructer championship they also outperformed Williams Honda and Force India.

What does 2009 hold for Toro Rosso?

Well Vettel gone to Red Bull and Bourdais might also be gone he is fighting for his seat with Takuma Sato and Sebastian Buemi and Jenson Button may also get a drive if Honda go under. Red Bull now own 100% of the team after buying Gerhard Berger 50% share of the team. Toro Rosso should do well in 2009.
