WWE Survivor Series 2011: My Predictions for the Huge Pay-Per-View

1 of 8

To celebrate the 25th anniversary of Survivor Series, Vince McMahon had to something big that has never been done before. He made it into what is supposed to be the second-biggest pay-per-view of the year.

Ever since 1997, you can argue that Survivor Series is the most controversial show on the card, dating back to the infamous "Montreal Screwjob."

This is a place where careers are made and legends are born. Undertaker made his debut at at Survivor Series in 1990 and won his first championship one year later. Randy Orton started his career at Survivor Series, among many others who made names of themselves over the years.

The card backs up the hype of this show and it does with high intensity. Eve will take on Beth Phoenix in a rematch for the Divas Championship. John Morrison will try to get his career back on track with a title victory over Dolph Ziggler (U.S. Champ).

Mark Henry will defend his World Heavyweight Title against the Big Show in their first match since Vengeance. CM Punk will try to win his second WWE Championship this year with a victory over Alberto Del Rio.

Then we have the traditional five-man tag match with Team Orton (Sheamus, Sin Cara, Mason Ryan and Kofi Kingston) against Team Barrett (Ziggler, Hunico, Jack Swagger and Cody Rhodes).

Lastly, we will have the Never Before/Never Again match pitting John Cena partnered with The Rock against The Miz and R-Truth.

What will the hyped up show bring? We will find out on Sunday night at 8 PM ET, but in the meantime, here are my predictions for the big show (no pun intended)!

John Morrison vs. Dolph Ziggler for the United States Championship

2 of 8

John Morrison's WWE career will be predictable at the conclusion of this match. For a man that apparently has lost his "mojo," he has a U.S. Title match at Survivor Series.

The past few months have surrounded Morrison with his contract expiring. It isn't to the extent of CM Punk's fiasco, but it certainly has wrestling fans on watch. To be honest, I was shocked along with many other people that Morrison got the match instead of Zack Ryder or Mason Ryan.

Morrison and Ziggler haven't been feuding for very long. It contained one match and a couple of run-ins by Morrison over the past few Raw episodes.

If Morrison wins this match, expect a contract to be signed within the next few days or it could have been done earlier. If Ziggler is the victor, then assume the complete opposite.

Prediction: John Morrison will defeat Ziggler to capture his first singles Championship since TLC in 2009. I fully expect Morrison to stick with the company after that, turn heel and move to the blue band in his quest to be World Champion.

Eve vs. Beth Phoenix for the Divas Championship in a Lumberjill Match

3 of 8

When the topic of discussion is around the WWE Divas division, a high level of skepticism comes into play. There is no Lita or Trish Stratus to bolster opinions and become fans of the division anymore.

Beth Phoenix has been champion for two months, winning it from Kelly Kelly at the Hell in a Cell pay-per-view. She retained her title against Eve at Vengeance last month and now she will face Eve in a rematch.

As for the feud these two are in, things still remain the same. One is played off as barbie doll and Beth Phoenix the true women's wrestler. I do think however, that this will be the last stepping stone for Beth until she faces Natalya for the title down the road.

Prediction: Beth Phoenix will retain her Divas Championship in a decent match. At the end, I think Natalya will somehow almost cost Beth the match and the two will go at it. It is hard to predict, because both are heels.

If WWE wants to do it right, I would keep Natalya heel and enter into a long feud until Kharma, Michelle McCool or Layla make their return.

Big Show vs. Mark Henry for the World Heavyweight Championship

4 of 8

This feud has been interesting and could be a great match. Mark Henry met a returning Big Show at the Vengeance PPV last month. It produced a moment that will never be forgotten, but apparently it happened first since Lesnar's superplex is taboo.

After Night of Champions, Show came on SmackDown and called out the new champion, which leads us to this match at Survivor Series.

WWE has done a great job of making Henry a credible champion. Sure he walks out like a coward and picks on the innocent, but isn't that a good heel?

Even MITB winner Daniel Bryan was pulled into this feud and could possibly cash in his briefcase after the match, instead of waiting until WrestleMania.

Expect this match to be the last between Big Show and Henry, as other challengers will pop up, until Bryan adds himself into the mix with his case.

Prediction: Mark Henry will retain his World Heavyweight Championship in a great match. Daniel Bryan should make an appearance, but it is questionable as to what he will do.

Team Barrett vs. Team Orton in a Traditional 5-Man Tag Match

5 of 8

Just swap out Christian for Dolph Ziggler and that will be your traditional Survivor Series five-man tag match. With new faces to this year's team, I'm expecting a great match.

Sin Cara will be pitted against Hunico, Ziggler against Ryan, Swagger against Kingston, Sheamus against Rhodes and captain vs. captain.

Think of Team Barrett as the guys who need one more big event to push them into main event status. The man who survives will become the next big wrestler in the WWE.

This is how Randy Orton got his start, by surviving in his first traditional tag match. Barrett has the potential to pop out of nowhere and continue the Barrett Barrage. Rhodes will gain even more credibility as well as Ziggler.

On the other side, Kofi Kingston is a borderline main-event player and needs one great showing to push himself to the next level.

A brutal match from all competitors will occur tonight and could be the start of someone's rise to stardom.

Prediction: Team Barrett will be victorious over Team Orton and I believe Dolph Ziggler will be the lone survivor. Reason being, Ziggler will drop his title to John Morrison before this match and start his rise to the top.

CM Punk vs. Alberto Del Rio for the WWE Championship

6 of 8

For months, we have been hearing that CM Punk wants to make this place fun again. He has the chance to do just that if he defeats Alberto Del Rio.

There has been an underlying feud between the two. Punk respects him for cashing in his briefcase on Punk at SummerSlam, but thanks to Kevin Nash, that was possible. Another appearance by Nash is not out of the question tonight.

The only reason Punk got his title match was due to his Anaconda Vice on Del Rio a few weeks back on Raw. Otherwise, Del Rio refused to grant him a match.

Do you think ADR has been the champion long enough? CM Punk is looking for his second WWE Title reign this year and has to go through the Mexican Aristocrat to do so.

Prediction: I believe CM Punk will be victorious and capture the WWE Championship. Nash should make an appearance of some sort, most likely to interrupt and give ADR the win. Straight Edge will prevail in the end.

John Cena and the Rock vs. Miz and R-Truth

7 of 8

    Never before, never again right?

Rocky will team up with John Cena to face Awesome Truth, who are on a hot streak as of late. They got under the Rock's skin last week on Raw, enough to deliver to Rock Bottoms.

This will be the main event of Survivor Series and Vince has done a great job of advertising, Never Before and Never Again.

Questions still arise if Rock will be the same Rock he was seven years ago. He seems to be in great shape and ready to take on another match. The real curiosity to the whole situation is if John Cena will turn on his partner and make that heel switch.

I'm not going to sit here and try to predict another Cena heel turn. This is my new philosophy on the new situation: if he turns fantastic.

John Cena will not turn heel. If he does, then prove me wrong, but it sure saves time trying to predict it every pay-per-view.

The Rock will be the face no matter what at WrestleMania 28. If that is enough context clues to insinuate a Cena heel turn before April 1, then that is great. It will sure enough make great television.

Prediction: I believe Awesome Truth will be the winners in this historic match and leave Rock and Cena with some thinking to do. I'm positive Cena and The Rock will go at it in this match sooner or later. The question of "When" is the key to it all.

8 of 8

This could be the ending image of Survivor Series after it's all said and done. Just make sure to have Cena giving Rocky the F-U. People think this will be the time Cena will finally turn heel.

Vince wants this to be the second-biggest show of the years behind WrestleMania 28, which contains the Rock and John Cena already.

The 25th anniversary of Survivor Series has all of the potential to be one of the best shows in recent memory. Each match on the card could steal the show and I'm certainly looking forward to watching it tonight.

Thank you for tuning into my predictions for Survivor Series. I will be tweeting live results via BR(underscore)WWE. Enjoy the show and have a great evening.
