It is being reported that Oklahoma State head women's basketball coach Kurt Budke and assistant Miranda Serna were killed in a small-plane crash in central Arkansas on Thursday. The coaches were on a routine recruiting trip.

Also killed in the crash were the pilot and an additional passenger. Budke had coached the Cowgirls since 2005 and was formerly the head coach at Louisiana Tech where Serna also served under him as an assistant.

As of now, no details are known regarding how the crash occurred. Sadly, this is not the first time that a plane crash tragedy has struck Oklahoma State University.

On Jan. 21, 2001, a plane that was carrying several Oklahoma State men's basketball players, broadcasters and staff went down. The crash happened near Denver, Co. as the team was returning back to Stillwater following a game against the Colorado Buffaloes.

Two players, Nate Fleming and Daniel Lawson, were killed in the 2001 crash.

Budke was 50 years old and will be survived by his wife and three children.
