Bobby Labonte has been approved by Target to drive the No. 41, it's basically now a done deal with his signing to Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing in 2009 and should be officially announced in the coming days.
He'll be a teammate to Martin Truex, Jr., Juan Pablo Montoya, and Aric Almirola, plus be part of a newly merged, four-car team.
Neither Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing or Bobby Labonte are commenting on this, but multiple sources close to the situation tell Sirius Speedway that the deal with Labonte in the No. 41 is signed, sealed, and delivered. (sirius-speedway.com)
I like the move, it's win-win for both, Labonte will help this team and give it a veteran presences. He'll be a great mentor and asset for Truex, Jr. and Almirola and I'm sure Montoya will benefit from it also.
While he couldn't save Petty Enterprises, but while it's wait and see with Earnhardt-Ganassi Racing and it's a great move to land him for their survival.
