According to a director of Real Madrid, Cristiano Ronaldo will join the Spanish club in the summer.

Director Pedro Trapote is quoted in the El Mundo newspaper saying that Real have a deal in place but cannot announce it officially.

After last summer's lengthy transfer saga, President Ramon Calderon assured that Los Merengues would end their long quest to acquire the Portuguese star to avoid making any enemies.

Sir Alex Ferguson won't be pleased to see the rumours resurfacing about Ronaldo's future.

Following Madrid's loss to Barcelona last weekend, El Mundo write that Trapote let it all out in a recorded conversation. It may have been an "off-the-record" statement, but it's now the public's knowledge.

"If you are asking me what we are going to do now, then I would tell you that we have already signed the best player for the summer," Trapote said.

"Are you talking about Cristiano?" was the reply.

"The best of the best. It is Cristiano, there is no other. It is better that we do not say anything at the moment though,"

"Why can you not say anything. It is the best time because things are going badly and people need something to excite them in the middle of all this,".

Trapote said, "No, it is best to not say anything because there are some clauses that prevent us from announcing it now."

It's all out in the open, and Ferguson's response awaits.
