Before I get to today’s sneaky waiver wire adds, I want to pass along a few notes from yesterday regarding some of the players mentioned in this week’s waiver wire adds column.
First, do not add Leonard Hankerson. The Redskins placed the promising young wide receiver on injured reserve yesterday.
In fact, that was popular throughout the NFL yesterday — players going on injured reserve, that is. Like Broncos’ running back Knowshon Moreno. Bengals’ cornerback Leon Hall.
And then there were those who could go on injured reserve as soon as today. Like Texans’ quarterback Matt Schaub and Kansas City QB Matt Cassel.
Rough Monday for fantasy footballers. Sneaky waiver wire adds, as promised:
Jacquizz Rodgers, RB, Falcons: Rodgers is getting more and more involved in the offense and had more burst against the Saints than starting running back Michael Turner. This is not the changing of the guard, but a player the Falcons will continue getting involved going forward. Dynamic talent.
D.J. Ware, RB, Giants: There are no guarantees that Ahmad Bradshaw will be back and Brandon Jacobs looks old and slow. Ware could play every-down, if needed. Good receiving back, too.
Taiwan Jones, RB, Raiders: Darren McFadden looks likely to miss another game. Jones’ role was expanded on Thursday night against San Diego last week and he could continue to see more playing time going forward. Unique skill set and rare speed.
Santana Moss, WR, Redskins: Strange to see an old, familiar name on this list. But here he is, and he probably was cut in most fantasy leagues when he got hurt a few weeks ago. Moss could return as early as next weekend.
Here are today’s great reads:
- More Week 10 waiver wire advice. Earl Bennett is a popular name on add lists this week, and rightfully so. Back-to-back decent games. Bennett could finally be emerging as the go-to receiver in Chicago. [RotoProfessor]
- Week 10 fantasy football revelations, starting in Dallas. What do the Cowboys do with DeMarco Murray when Felix Jones returns from his high-ankle sprain? Certainly he has earned significant playing time. Jones looks like a guy who lost his job due to injury right now. Hard to bench Murray. [National Football Post]
- More on the slew of Week 10 injuries that wrecked fantasy leagues. Important ones not mentioned above: Michael Vick broke some ribs; Jeremy Maclin got banged around; Willis McGahee gave way to Lance Ball; Peyton Hillis already ruled out for Week 11; Matthew Stafford has a broken finger.
