Ranking the 6 Biggest Pretenders in the NFL

0 of 6

Every year there are NFL teams that appear to be much better than they really are.

So far this season, we are finding that this is the case once again.

The Bills and Lions got off to blazing-hot starts, but have now cooled off and are now starting to show their true colors.

Here are the six biggest pretenders in the NFL today.

Detroit Lions

1 of 6

The Lions are currently 6-3 and in second in their division, but don't be fooled by their record.

Detroit has a suspect secondary and an injury-prone QB for the rest of this season.

They also have lost three out of their last four games as well.

And after their blowout against the Bears on Sunday, Chicago showed the rest of the NFL that the Lions are not who we thought they were after their 5-0 start to this season.

Buffalo Bills

2 of 6

Remember when the Bills started the season off by winning their first three games of the year?

Well, it seems like a distant memory now, and even harder to believe as the weeks have gone by.

Since Week 3, Buffalo has gone 2-4, including a lopsided 44-7 loss against the Cowboys this past Sunday.

They are officially one of the biggest pretenders in the AFC and in the entire league as well.

Kansas City Chiefs

3 of 6

The Kansas City Chiefs could be the biggest pretender on this list.

This is a team that won 10 games last season, on the way to their first division title in seven years.

Since that great season, KC has been blown out three times this year, and at 4-5, they look nothing like last season's division-winning squad.

To make matters worse, they went on a four-game winning streak earlier this season, only to get beat up by two weaker opponents at home in successive weeks.

Atlanta Falcons

4 of 6

The Falcons have easily been one of the most inconsistent teams in the league this season.

They have looked good in many of their five wins, but have looked terrible in their four losses.

You never know what you are going to get out of QB Matt Ryan each week, and this is why we still can't trust Atlanta to be a legitimate playoff contender at this point.

Matty Ice's team is not the biggest pretender in the NFC, but with the way that they have been playing this year, they are definitely right up there.

Philadelphia Eagles

5 of 6

The "Dream Team" in Philly is no more.

With the Eagles' loss against Arizona in Week 10, they have now fallen to 3-6 and are clearly in jeopardy of even making the playoffs this season.

How could the same team look so dominant against the Cowboys a couple weeks ago and then lose at home against a struggling Cardinals team?

The only answer to this question is that Andy Reid's team is one of the biggest pretenders in the league right now.

San Diego Chargers

6 of 6

You might not find too many more teams that have been as disappointing as the Chargers have been in 2011.

They always seem to have a ton of talent, but not much to show for it by the end of the season.

When they are on their game they are nearly unstoppable, but when they are not playing well, they are one of the worst squads in all of football.

It also doesn't help their case that Pro Bowl QB Philip Rivers has been playing like he was just in the movie Space Jam and just got all the talent sucked out of him this season.
