Fred Taylor: A Lost Chance

Fred Taylor...where to begin?

He is an amazing player and is now down for the season. He was drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars in 1998, and he hasn't played for a single other team since. He had some trouble during his early years, earning the nickname "Fragile Fred."

However, since those years, he has been a dominant force (excluding this season). He has managed to build up 11,271 yards in his illustrious career along with 62 TDs. He has averaged (average of all seasons) an impressive 4.6 yards a carry.

He was last year's Ground Player of the the Year, and yet he has only made ONE SINGLE Pro-Bowl appearance and even then that was only due to an injury to Willie Parker.

He has been voted as a backup two times. He is a phenomenal player and has only played in ONE Pro Bowl. What has prevented this great from playing with the greats, was it a the ghost of "Fragile Freddy" returning to haunt him?

Was it the fact that he played for the not very prominent Jaguars? Who knows, I certainly don't. I personally deeply regret the fact that I may never get the chance to do my part for Fred.

However, I hope bringing some more attention to this snub will make up for it. I certainly hope to see Fred Taylor playing again next year, and hope he gives all of us another chance to give him a much deserved honor.
