The Dallas Cowboys have seen their wide receivers suffer a variety of acute and chronic injuries this season. The one receiver who has played each game and played pretty well has been Laurent Robinson.

Each game he seems to catch a critical third down pass, help take the pressure off of Dez Bryant and Miles Austin, or simply add stability to the Cowboys’ offensive attack.

The strange thing is that Robinson was on the San Diego Chargers this offseason, did not have a job the first two games and then got signed to the Dallas squad in Week 3. Since that time, he has had four touchdowns, but more importantly, he has been a big-play threat while Austin has been injured. He averages roughly 16 yards a catch and provides another dimension to the offense that Tony Romo and Jason Garrett thought was gone after the Austin injury.

In general, he will not blow you away with his speed (like Austin), strength (like Bryant) or stability (like Jason Witten), but he continues to perform for the Dallas Cowboys.

The Dallas Cowboys willingly gave up Patrick Crayton a few years ago, and it seems like they have found Patrick Crayton 2.0 in Robinson.

When Miles Austin comes back from injury, the offense will start Bryant, Austin, Witten and DeMarco Murray. In three receiver sets, we will see Robinson, as opposed to an inexperienced and unreliable Kevin Ogletree.

As the season goes on and the divisional games get more intense, look for Laurent Robinson to really step up and play an even bigger role with the Cowboys.
