One of the most exciting fights of 2011 is set to take place tonight for free on Facebook as Clay Guida and Ben Henderson square off in the Octagon.
Both of these men are great fighters who don’t have any quit in them. Each fighter is known for putting on fast paced exciting fights.
Let's take a look on how these fighters match up against one another.
Striking: Advantage Henderson
Guida sets a ludicrous pace in his fights, but his striking isn’t exactly top notch. He generally uses his striking to set up takedowns and grind away at his opponents.
Henderson isn’t known for being a knockout artist, but his striking is a lot more accurate than Guida’s.
Don’t expect Henderson to knock Guida out, but if Guida is afraid to go to the ground with Henderson, the striking will play a huge role in the decision victory.
Wrestling: Advantage Guida
Ben Henderson is a beast on the ground, but Clay Guida has a pace that few men can match.
Guida has used his wrestling to grind out some impressive victories over quite a few opponents including Anthony Pettis, the last man to defeat Ben Henderson.
Henderson has some great Jiu Jitsu, but expect Guida to smother Henderson if he’s in the top position.
Grappling: Advantage Henderson
Both of these men are good on the ground, but it is Henderson who holds the advantage in submission grappling.
It’ll be close, but Henderson’s brown belt is a slight advantage over Guida, especially if Guida ends up on his back.
Cardio: Advantage Guida
Both of these men have some great cardio, but the advantage has to go to Guida.
Even opponents who have been known for having good conditioning have been outpaced by Guida. He just never stops moving around and it makes his timing extremely hard to get down.
It’s a small advantage, but Guida will outlast Henderson if it comes down to it.
Prediction: Clay Guida Unanimous Decision
This fight is so incredibly hard to call. Each fighter is very talented and there is no doubt that the fight will be exciting.
Ever since joining Greg Jackson's gym, Guida has been a different caliber fighter, and there isn’t anyone else that moves as much as him.
Henderson has some great striking, but getting Guida’s timing down is incredibly hard. Expect Guida to take Henderson down time and time again and grind out a unanimous decision victory.
