Georgia Tech Basketball Lands Five Star Recruit Robert Carter

Matt PowersCorrespondent IINovember 11, 2011

Georgia Tech's basketball program landed a big-time recruit this evening when Lithonia, Ga., power forward Robert Carter, from Shiloh High School, committed to the Yellow Jackets over offers from Georgia, Florida and Florida State.

Carter is a consensus Top 40 recruit, and most recruiting experts rank him among the Top 25 players in the Class of 2012. He is a 6'8" big man, and at 245 pounds, he has the bulk to immediately battle inside against ACC competition.

Carter is best known for his ability to be scoring threat from the low post as well as a very strong rebounder.

His commitment gives new Yellow Jackets head coach Brian Gregory a three-man recruiting class, as Carter joins small forward Marcus Hunt and shooting guard Chris Bolden. All three hail from the state of Georgia.

More to come on Carter and the rest of the Tech recruiting class in the next few days.
