As the latest Mats Sundin rumors capture Rangers' fans (and Rangers players') interests, the players presently wearing the red, white, and blue face a very important week against three Western Conference teams.
Starting with tomorrow night's game in Anaheim against the Ducks, the Rangers will play the Ducks, the Kings, and the league-leading Sharks. While taking two out of the three games might be considered a stretch, it is not impossible, considering how well the Rangers can play.
However, this Rangers team, 33 games into the season, are still impossible to figure out. There are so many positives when you look at the Rangers, and yet there are so many negatives.
The Rangers have an NHL-best 90.7% PK, while a 14.2% PP, only ranking 23rd. Their record is 20-11-2, but have won eight of their games after OT.
And while team is inconsistent, and have not won a game in regulation since November 24th against Phoenix, they are still somehow managing to lead their division.
So, while the Rangers wait for Mats Sundin to make up his mind, Tom Renney needs to focus on making his team play like they did on Saturday night, instead of Friday night.
