Coming into the Big Ten conference, this was one game I feared. At Penn State. We're talking 107,000 fans and as true a test on the road as winning in Kyle Field at Texas A&M.
But is there any need to be fear this game anymore? Nebraska will win this game and there's no ifs, ands or buts about it. We're a much better team.
All current headlines aside, Nebraska will win this game and here's why.
1. Penn State is overrated and overexposed at No. 11.
2. Penn State has no firepower. Nebraska does.
3. Nebraska is better coached.
4. Nebraska doesn't fault back-to-back weeks.
Last week was one week we can all agree where we laid an egg. Losing to Northwestern was a big slap in the face on our own turf. More than likely, we win that game had Dan Persa not left and Kain Colter changed the complexion of the game.
Usually I feel good about games. I didn't feel good about Wisconsin or Michigan State, for the right reason. But against Penn State, I have a different vibe. They aren't what a ranking says.
I think Taylor Martinez comes out and continues to impress. The sophomore has only coughed up one turnover the last three weeks. He was spot-on last week with every throw, connecting on a career high 28 completions.
I think Rex Burkhead gets more ground to cover underneath his feet. Tons of handles. Expect 25 carries and over 100 on the ground.
When this Nebraska team gets going, they're hard to stop. I know that from a fan perspective. It's all about Martinez and Burkhead. Folks, Rex might be the most underrated player in America, and I'm not just saying that being a fan.
I see a 31-3 type of Nebraska win. Penn State gets their first conference loss. A controlling, smart, reluctant game from the Big Red results in a big W.
