As we get closer and closer to the World Baseball Classic we see our favorite players go to their respected countries. The top overall pick in the 1999 first year player draft has declined to play for team USA.

After declining to play hamilton was recorded saying, "If I had four or five years under my belt, I think I would do it. I think I would be better served by going to Spring Training and by getting that work in, because I missed so much time."

In 2008, Hamilton finished first in the American League with 130 RBIs and 331 total bases. He also hit .304, and if you will remember he dominated the Home Run Derby with a record setting 32 long balls in one round.
