'Bama's road to the title game in January is rocky, but it's still a road. This is not a state Tide-rs like to find themselves in waiting for other teams to lose so we can play for No. 14, but it's where we are.

All the 'Bama fans already know that Auburn needs to win every game until we stomp them at the end of that winning streak.  All of us will be watching intently to see if Stanford or Oklahoma State loses this weekend.  (And a Boise loss is not absolutely necessary, but would be a help.)

I wouldn't mind Oklahoma taking another loss, as long as it drives them to take down Oklahoma State at the end of the year.  If Oklahoma, Stanford, Boise, and Oklahoma State all lose one more game, then I think a rematch would be obvious.

In the meantime, look for Alabama to take the field starting today with the full intention of silencing all those who say they should have dropped further in the BCS polls.  Look for Alabama to continue to hold their No. 1 scoring defense ranking for the next three weeks.

So, on game day, let's get together and root for TCU, Texas Tech (currently trailing 14-0 to Oklahoma State with 5:00 left in first quarter), Oregon, and Auburn while we all hope to see Alabama go to New Orleans for the BCS National Championship in January.

I'm a big fan of rooting for us to make it to the Sugar Bowl to stomp Boise State into submission, but I'm an Alabama fan. I won't stop rooting for National Championship No. 14 until it is really, truly out of reach.

Roll, Tide, Roll!

Alabama 45, Mississippi State 0  Here's to hope!
