Garth Brooks was wrong, at least as of this NBA season.
I am referring to the smash hit by the country singer entitled "Thunder Rolls."
It couldn't be more inaccurate when applied to the OKC Thunder NBA team.
The firing of P.J. Carlisimo and the promotion of Scotty Brooks proved to be better, but still didn't make a difference. Sure, the Thunder won a game under Brooks, but they won a game under P.J. also.
So is it a head coach matter, or a player matter?
It seems to me that Brooks has what it takes to get his team going, but the team seems to fall apart at pivotal points in the game. Kevin Durant is a hard worker, but he needs solid effort from four other players. Russell Westbrook is starting to come into his game a little, but that still leaves three players.
Different ones step up at different times, but that won't win games. They need three or four players who play consistently well. I just don't see that after Durant and Westbrook. But, there are still a lot of games left. I just feel that the Thunder aren't rolling towards a five win season.
