WWE: Is Monday Night RAW the Most Boring It Has Ever Been?

Giulio RomanoCorrespondent IINovember 8, 2011

Is it me or has the booking for Monday Night RAW become ridiculous over the last few months?

We have a huge pay-per-view event in two weeks. The Rock makes his return to the ring, teaming with WrestleMania opponent John Cena to take on the Awesome Truth.

As much as I like The Miz in a main-event match with The Rock, WWE has failed miserably in making him and his partner, R-Truth, a legitimate threat. John Cena defeats them almost every time, and all by himself.

Last night, after losing his match, he even smiled and said something like, "Enjoy your one victory; you won't get two."

Are you kidding me? Way to promote your intimidating opponents there, pal.

If I am going to pay to watch this show, you better start making top heels act like a real threat and not look like total weaklings.

What else did we have in there?

  • Mason Ryan disposing of JTG in five seconds
  • Jack Swagger making Santino tap out
  • The Divas of Doom backing out of a fight against those little Barbies
  • CM Punk getting a huge pop and telling WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio he is boring
  • United States Champion Dolph Ziggler losing another non-title match

OK, I think you get the point. Is that all you can do on an overseas trip to Europe? I am glad I caught it on the replay a few hours later.

The plus of the night was listening to the immense negative reaction John Cena got every time he appeared. I loved it and wondered, is that a taste of things to come? Perhaps he really is going to turn on The Rock at Survivor Series. The last thing their opponents, Miz and Truth, need is to win via interference or something as cheesy.

It is now or never for him to turn I think, but that is a whole other matter to be discussed at a later time via Real Talk!

I am a very positive person, and I am proud to invest my money, time and energy into the WWE product; but if even a guy like me starts turning away from RAW because I think it is boring, how many others must feel like this? You wonder as to why the ratings plummet every now and then. Bad scripts.

There is still hope, though. The united roster, CM Punk in the WWE title picture and Beth Phoenix as Divas Champion are some things that keep me glued to the set when I do watch the whole thing. I can't help but think this all happens for a reason. But even I have my limits.

There is no valid reason why the RAW program cannot be as interesting all year long. The new year and the road to WrestleMania is the best time to watch; but why is there no long summer road to SummerSlam followed by a build-up for Survivor Series?

I have a whole year's worth of stories I made while waiting for WWE '12. They are great and I use all sorts of available characters. Yes, I am a writer, but I am not reinventing the wheel here. I can't see why stories like that can't be a reality.

Leave JTG at home! Mason Ryan should have fought Drew McIntyre instead. Beth and Natalya should have beaten the crap out of all three girls last night. She is the Glamazon for Christ's sake!

Another thing I better see until November 20th is The Miz and R-Truth kicking the holy daylights out of John Cena for us to really believe he needs The Rock to help him. I fear it may already be too late, though.

En tout cas, I don't know if I can say it's the most boring it's ever been, but it's pretty damn close. So glad the year is almost over and we have some better times ahead.

Royal Rumble time soon!
