A few weeks ago, I wrote a post about that week's excellent NFL games, in which the top two teams in each conference faced each other. At the time, it was the Giants against the Cardinals and the Titans against the Jets.
Well, the Giants and Titans are still there, but the Jets and Cards have both faded. The Jets followed up their defeat of the previously undefeated Titans by dropping two straight to lesser teams. The Cardinals lost to the Giants and have never regained their footing, losing three straight embarrassing games, despite clinching the NFC West along the way.
But next week's matchups should be even better.
The Titans have lost another game today against the Texans, but they remain one game up on the Pittsburgh Steelers, who they face next week. The Giants lost last week and are about to play the Cowboys.
Depending on the outcome of this game, they will either have a one-game lead over the Carolina Panthers, or will be tied with them.
Well, guess who's playing next week.
The Titans face the Steelers, and the Panthers play Big Blue. First place is on the line in both conferences, and the top two teams are playing each other. By next week, the seeding atop both conferences could be in flux.
All four teams will have their work cut out for them, and I'm hoping the Giants pull out a win. But no matter the outcome, both games will be very pivotal and may be previews of the conference finals.
