Packing For Vegas: College Basketball Picks Dec. 14
The lines were tough yesterday, but I managed to go 3-1. Christmas came early, at least for those who bet on Temple, which was a bad start to my day. But I rallied, as UCLA and Kentucky built big halftime leads and hung on for close covers, and Oklahoma cruised despite no field goals from Blake Griffin.
Sunday is typically an off-day, as there aren't many games on the schedule. However, there is one I just can't pass up: Gonzaga -6.5 vs. Arizona. The game is in Phoenix and the Zags have been doing a lot of travelling lately, but I still think they should roll.
According to my research, Gonzaga is the only team in the country other than No. 1 UNC that has all five starters scoring in double digits. Arizona has a few stars of its own, but is a team still searching for an identity and, more importantly, consistency on both ends of the floor.
With close losses to UAB and Texas A&M, the Wildcats have no real quality victories. Top to bottom, they're just not as talented as Gonzaga is. Time for the oddsmakers to start showing Mark Few's bunch a little bit more respect.
Note: If the line moves down, I may put another unit on it, so check back later if you're interested.
Today's picks: Gonzaga -6.5; 1 unit
Season Record: 21-11 (66 percent); +16.9 units
