The ongoing saga that has captivated a nation just keeps adding layers. That saga would be the impending divorce between "reality" television star Kim Kardashian and NBA player Kris Humphries. The latest news is that Kim is trying to save the marriage.

After you stop laughing about Kim being the voice of reason for anything, you can read the report from TMZ. She flew to Minnesota in a last-ditch effort to save her marriage, even though she is the one that filed for divorce. According to the pastor that married the pair, their future is still undecided.

According to our sources, the meeting with Pastor Joel Johnson went well as they talked through lots of issues. We're told the two expressed respect and love for each other... but both acknowledged a lot is wrong with their relationship.

Our sources say Kris was "ecstatic" Kim made the trip to Minnesota and he truly thinks he can win her back.

As for Kim... she's unsure if she even wants to give it another go... but for now, she's willing to keep talking.

While I can respect Kris' desire to stay in the spotlight, he needs to run away from Kim and her family as fast as he can.

These people have done nothing but make Kris look like a joke and his NBA prospects were extremely limited because Kim would not move anywhere with him. She has a television show to think about, after all.

Kris is not without blame in this whole situation, because he had to know what he was getting into when he started hanging around Kim and the life that she leads.

But for the sake of his dignity–assuming he has some left at this point–he needs to kick Kim and the rest of the Kardashian clan to the curb. He can walk away from this whole situation as the bigger person.

There is not going to be a winner in this whole thing, but at least Kris can do the right thing for the institution of marriage and hold his head high knowing that he has done the right thing by ending this entire fiasco.
