Raja Bell and Boris Diaw began their Bobcats carrers with a rough start. Both missed their first two shots and looked lost in Larry Brown's system. Bell committed multiple turnovers in the first quarter against Detroit, while Boris quickly had two fouls.

Who could fault them?

After sitting out of practice yesterday, while waiting for the trade to finalize, the two new Bobcats had morning shootaround and pre-game warm ups to get used to their new teammates.

While Diaw and Bell came out of the tunnel to a rough start, don't write the trade off just yet. Around the web, the Bobcats are the brunt of many jokes; we have become a laughing stock to many in forums across the Internet due to this trade. However, I like it. We might have lost our best scorer (not best player, that's still Gerald), but we also lost his $12,222,222 per year contract.

I don't think we are going anywhere this year, and we really did't have any salary cap flexibility unless we made a trade. Now we have more options: sign a big free agent in two years, or maybe even trade Diaw to New York, where he would be greatly appreciated by Mike D'Antoni, who coached him in Phoenix.

Despite poor stat lines from the two new Cats, don't give up hope on these two yet. This essentially was scrimmage No. 1. That's a tough assignment: first up the Detroit Pistons.

Hey, I'll take a four point loss to a 29 point loss any day. Give these guys a couple weeks, you'll be glad to have five legit starters; and maybe wait a couple off-seasons and you'll be glad to have the extra cap space.
